The Role:
Ensure the successful preparation for, execution and closure of turnarounds for one or more businesses. This is accomplished through the application of Sadara Turnaround Methodology and the corresponding best practices.
This role creates value by providing the Best in Class Turnaround performance with respect to EH&S, asset utilization, and preparation, execution and closure costs through the proper application of Global Turnaround Methodology and the corresponding best practices. The Turnaround Manager accomplishes this by applying the skills commonly associated with Project Management.

• Accountable for compliance and implementation of the work process within the Turnaround Team
• Actively participates as the facilitator of the Turnaround Team
• Interfaces with partners to define the work to be done and determines requirements and priorities.
• Delivers skills necessary to apply the work process, ensures that team members understand the work process
• Measures the efficiency of the work process and initiates Management of Change for improvements and fast knowledge transfers
• Coordinates site integration issues for their Turnarounds
• Provides information to the Site Turnaround work Process Leader for the Site Turnaround Rolling Plan from Turnaround Identification through Closure
• Control cost and timing of Turnarounds to meet business needs by working with the Business to develop good work inventories, working within budget boundaries, and without scope creep
• Accountable for completion of appropriate Turnaround work process tools, based upon Turnaround size, but a minimum of the following:
• Turnaround Rolling Plan
• Plan for Management and Control
• Small Turnaround Checklist
• Integrated Turnaround
• Execution Schedule
• Closure Reports

The TAR Manager:
• Is responsible for ensuring that corrections or improvements to operating discipline at the facility are completed directly following the turnaround
• Is held accountable for both performance (results) and process (how those results were achieved) measures of the turnaround execution.
• Is responsible for partnering with local labour purchasing efforts to complete contractor selection for work executed during their turnaround, and to manage those resources throughout all phases of the turnaround
• Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor / manager.

Managerial Duties:
• Direct and manage respective Divisions in performing their roles, responsibilities and delegated tasks.
• Conduct performance evaluation reviews for direct reports, identify and ensure that they acquire the required managerial or functional skills and knowledge.
• Provide input in setting the Department’s annual budget, in accordance with the Function’s strategic goals and objectives and manage to stay within approved budget.
• Determine additional skills or individuals necessary to meet or exceed the set of objectives.
• Create a productive and healthy work environment within the Department, and foster high attention to details and efficient knowledge transfer among employees.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Must have extensive experience in a Turnaround managerial role
• Must hold substantial chemical plant experience
• Must have strong man management experience
• Hold substantial on plant chemical experience
• Be able to motivate and drive staff
• Good EH&S knowledge
