The Role:
The Turret Mechanical Engineer will be the focal point for turret team’s Technical Mechanical and Piping Systems support. The position will work closely with the FPSO Contractor (HHI) and Turret Subcontractor. The Turret Mechanical Engineer is expected to perform the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME), for all Mechanical and Piping matters arising from the execution of the work by the Turret Subcontractor.
The role will initially be based in Europe at the turret and moorings Subcontractor’s office starting in summer of 2015, and then relocating to the turret fabrication yard, and then the FPSO shipyard. There will be a requirement to travel to other project offices and Contractor execution locations to support the project.
The position will report directly to the Turret Package Manager.
Key Accountabilities
The Turret Engineer has delegated responsibility to ensure the implementation of all technical aspects of the Rosebank Turret scope as defined in the Turret Functional Specification:
Delivery
• Reviews and monitors Contractor and Subcontractor deliverables as a Technical expert in the area of Swivels, Bearings, Chainstoppers, Piping and Mechanical systems in general.
• Ensure Technical reviews of Turret Contractor and Subcontractor technical documents are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with project objectives around safety, reliability, operability and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure all Technical interfaces assigned to the Turret team are addressed and provide oversight to the interface process with other contracts.
• Support Contractors & Subcontractors procurement activities, including participation in inspections and attendance at Factory Acceptance testing events.
• Ensure the technical deliverables from the Turret Subcontractor are compliant with Technical Standards for the Rosebank project.
• Guides and monitors the mechanical and process system design, procurement, construction, integration, testing, installation and start-up.
• Leads interface interaction with Subsea and Topsides groups for mechanical and process systems. Preemptively manage potential changes from other groups.
• Draft technical documents to support Change Management and RFIs with HHI and turret and moorings Subcontractor.
Leadership
• Participate in Project meetings as required and lead the technical discussions.
• Participate in Contractor and Subcontractor engineering meetings.
• Participate in training requirements and IIF program.
Communications
• Focal point for all technical matters relating to Regulatory Compliance for the Turret package and liaise with the project Regulatory SME.
• Supports the Interface Coordinator in the execution of the Interface management plan.
• Supports the Risk Management Coordinator in the execution of the Risk Management Plan.
• Supports the Operations group around technical matters of the Turret operating system

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience
• Recognized qualification in Engineering.
• 10+ years in turret and moorings design, fabrication, and startup experience.
• Experience with technical aspects of Turret Moorings systems, including Bearings, Swivels, Chainstoppers, Piping & Process systems.
• Strong understanding of quality controls, materials and fabrication.
• Experience on projects for the North Sea under European and UK legislation.
Knowledge
• Knowledge of current Turret technology and turret and moorings critical components.
• Knowledge of UK & EU Directive Legislation covering design and manufacture of Turret Mooring Systems; Pressure Equipment Directive; Machinery Directive, EMC & ATEX.
Skills
• Good interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to work in a multi-national project team to develop strong respected working relationships with Contractors.
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
