The Role:
Working as part of the regional Unix team based in Aberdeen, the individual will be responsible for administering the Technical and Commercial Unix workstations and servers, plus providing support for the storage devices in the region. This will entail problem management of the Unix and storage infrastructure, applying patches, and performing routine maintenance. In addition, the candidate will be expected to deal with end users problems, whether regarding their Solaris/Linux workstations or the database/application servers.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to communicate with various levels of the user community
Must be a self-starter with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Thorough analytical and research approach
Ability to work effectively across time zones and geography.
Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of the Solaris operating system, expert diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem solving for hardware, software, and OS.
Setup, configuration, and problem diagnostics of server/storage hardware including RAID and mirrored disks.
Knowledge of GGRE application installation, ZEH and FlexLM licensing.
Knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and video driver configuration.
Knowledge of server/enterprise tape backup and restore operations using Veritas NetBackup.
Knowledge of Jumpstart and Kickstart. Understanding of LAN, TCP/IP, DNS. Setup and configuration of Sun and HP-UX hardware including firmware, hardware and software. Kn

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Two years experience with Solaris (required) and AIX/HP-UX/Linux (desired) in an enterprise environment.
