The Company:
Our Client is an independent Australian oil and gas company playing a key role in supplying energy to our region.

They are one of the world’s leading producers of liquefied natural gas, helping meet the demands for cleaner energy from Japan, China, Korea and other countries in the Asia Pacific region.

The Role:
Primarily responsible for commissioning, decommissioning and maintenance of the Linux workstation fleet and batch cluster. The role will also extend to supporting Unix services more broadly within the company’s Unix environment as experience allows. The applicant will be expected to have the appropriate personal skills to work as part of a team to achieve this.

• Ensure Linux workstation operating systems and batch cluster are maintained and kept current with reference to recommended patching levels.
• Commission and decommission Linux systems meeting defined refresh cycles.
• Ensure deployed infrastructure is appropriately documented and accurately recorded in the company CMDB.
• Contribute to an ongoing infrastructure maintenance program.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years technical IT experience
• Experience using Linux
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are a necessity
• Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Redhat Satellite server
• Standard Unix services – NFS, LDAP, DNS, Samba
• Solaris administration
• Energy Industry technical applications
• VMware virtualization
• Perl
