The Role:
Reporting to the Country Tax Manager you will be responsible for Indirect Tax matters for UK and Ireland. The role will have a significant advisory focus but will also be responsible for overseeing indirect tax processes carried out by the Global Business Service Centres.

* Management of all VAT and indirect tax compliance processes carried out by Global Business Service (GBS) team (both domestic and overseas)
* Review of VAT and indirect tax filings prepared by GBS team
* Manage VAT audits in front of the tax authority
* Internal VAT audit of UK/IE businesses
* Implementation and continuous improvement of VAT processes - VAT risk management to support the SAO submission
* Active participation in the company Indirect Tax Practice Group (Global CoE) and contribute to the Group's projects and initiatives
* Advising the businesses on the indirect tax implications of projects and complex order routes
* Provide training to the businesses and finance community on VAT and indirect tax matters
* Prepare appropriate documentation and evidence to support ICoFR Controls
* Keep up to date with changes to domestic and international VAT regulations and communicate these as appropriate
* Advising Country Management on any impact that Brexit might have on the UK/IE business. Maintaining a strong relationship with HMRC
* Support business transformation and implementation of new business models

Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Professional Tax / Accounting Qualification - CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA
* Minimum 1-2 year post-qualified experience working within an "in house" indirect tax role or for a top 10 professional firm
* Expertise in UK/IE VAT and Customs matters
* Expertise in international VAT matters in EU and Non-EU countries
* Good understanding of international supply chains, in particular in movement of goods
* Communication with both finance and non-finance teams is critical and must be able to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
* Flexible, self-confident individual who is able to work autonomously and deliver results

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* A genuine interest in broadening tax expertise beyond indirect tax to provide wider advisory input to projects
* Practical experience of implementing business change to support an Indirect tax cost or process improvement
* Understanding of indirect tax issues for 'Digital' business models
* Previous experience of using SAP
