The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.
The Role:
• To effectively manage the departmental objectives with regards to the inbound part supply through innovation, motivation and the coaching of a team of people.
• The Vendor Planning Manager will effectively co-ordinate supply constraints and analyse the risk to the business before implementing appropriate recovery activities to reduce disruption and cost to the business.
• To ensure that process adherence is followed and that problem resolution activities are implemented and monitored to their completion.
• To manage team development by means of the departmental skill matrix and to manage gaps in planner performance and to nurture opportunities for succession planning within the team.
• To look for cost saving opportunities within the department especially with regards to inventory management and process improvements.
• Responsible for the efficient operation of the Vendor Planning Department.
• Responsible for ensuring that local Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed in order to ensure own safety and the safety of others.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a departmental operating budget.
• Implement appropriate departmental measures and KPI's.
• Articulate and present departmental constraints at the appropriate time/ forum.
• Ensure departmental adherence to standard operating procedures are followed.
• Introduce operating change seamlessly into the department.
• Develop efficiency initiatives.
• Manage a team of Vendor Planners.
• Coaching and facilitating for continuous improvement and individual development performance.
• Responsible for ensuring that the function operates in accordance with site policies and procedures in respect of Health and Safety, in order to ensure the safety of associates and visitors.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• The role requires experience in the management of people and a sound understanding of the supply chain concepts and practicalities.
• The ability to demonstrate that you possess the necessary skills to negotiate and communicate at all levels of the business organisation both internally and externally by using the appropriate medium to suit the situation.
• The ability to present summary statements/ presentations to senior members of the company is essential, combined within ability to understand the business cost implications of decisions.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• 'A' Level standard preferred though not essential.
• Sound knowledge of supply chain concepts and Vendor planning principles and procedures.
• Proven record of people management and coaching skills.
• A recognised management qualification would be beneficial.
