The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
My client is looking to recruit a team leader for their picking and packing operation in Birmingham.

Key duties will include:
• Managing a team of 5 – 8 staff to delivery:
• Ensure that all activities are carried out within a safe working environment
• Manage a business agreed Service Level Agreement
• Aim to complete acitivities to the industry standard KPI (2% cost/rev.)
• Be responsive and adaptable to the market
• Ensure a minimal impact on the environment


Key focus areas include:
1. People / training
• Managing, supporting and developing the team
• Managing forecasts and workload/capacity

2. Budget / Cost
• Validate and maintain an annual budget on the overall warehouse and outbound transport

3. Delivery and stock
• Manage Goods-in
• Process all "goods-in" in less than 24h
• Manage quarantine and escalate factual complaints to suppliers
• Liaise with inbound carriers to maximise efficiency and quality of deliveries
• Process all returns in less than 24h
• Oversee all picking, packing, shipping
• Ensure a 100% delivery ensuring that it is on time and in full

Outbound carriers
• Liaise and develop relationships with outbound carriers to maximise efficiency and quality of deliveries

Stock
• Manage stock to maintain above 99% stock accuracy
• Complete weekly /monthly reports including stock adjustments
• Optimise storage allocation to increase picking efficiency (lines/h)
• Take responsibility for the annual stock take ensuring that there is no disruption to the business

4. Building, HSE
• Maintain procedures and instructions to comply with quality policy, ISO9001, ISO140001, OHSAS18001 and SOX
• Maintain the building and the stock in a serviceable condition

5. Quality and continous Improvement
• Run a continuous improvement program to improve on the points listed above

6. Interface
• SCM, Cust. Service, Finance, IT, HR, Product Management/Technical, Production, Sales and Accounts
• Participate in the weekly, monthly and yearly management meetings

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have previous experience of leading a warehouse team, and have relevant co-ordination and organisational skills.
The site operates variable shifts, so the role will be working 37.5 hours a week between the hours of 6am and 6pm, flexibility is essential in order to fulfil customer requirements.
