The Role:
The waterflood development lead will bring the experience of successful waterflood implementation and execution (monitoring, conformance control and executing mitigation measures), which is currently not developed. A critical task of the waterflood development lead will be to develop waterflooding capability e.g. by supporting the training of operations, engineering and petroleum engineering staff in the field of waterflooding.

Other tasks of the waterflood Development lead include ensuring alignment between production operations, engineering and petroleum engineering to implement up-coming waterflood projects to ensure to quartile recovery. In addition he/she will design a fit-for-purpose monitoring and metering plan for all waterfloods as required for conformance control and mitigation measures and work with other departments to ensure timely implementation of the plan. Improving the understanding of ongoing waterfloods it is envisioned that the waterflood development lead will also introduce new techniques e.g. tracer testing.

Specific job purposes are as follows:
a. Coordinate implementation of waterfloods.
b. Design waterflood monitoring and metering plans and coordinate their execution
c. Ensure effective training and coaching of operations, engineering and petroleum engineering staff working on waterflood projects.
d. Champion implementation of relevant new technologies to optimize the waterflood developments.
e. Monitor and evaluate ongoing waterfloods and plan and execute optimizations to the development.

The incumbent will be responsible for:
a. Effective implementation of new waterfloods within the client
b. Effective implementation of monitoring of ongoing waterfloods
c. Building capability within client to design, manage and operate waterfloods.
d. Building waterflood WRM capability and implement necessary tools for waterflood WRM

The waterflood development lead will need to fill-in this new position within the client to ensure maximum effectiveness. This will require a quick recognition within client of the waterflood development leads expertise in the field and his ability to transfer this knowledge to others. The lead will have to work across departments within our client and will need to establish him/herself not only as an expert within petroleum engineering but across all departments.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
University degree in Physics, Mathematics, Petroleum Engineering or related discipline;
Broad understanding of petroleum engineering and operations;
Expert understanding of waterflooding and waterflood monitoring;
Expert understanding of WRM;
Commitment to staff development and mentoring experience in a multi-cultural environment;
Communicate effectively across disciplines, department and companies;
Personal drive, ability to cope high work load peaks, good at priority setting, self-starter and willingness to work against tight deadlines;
Interpersonal skills and sensitivity to cultural differences are extremely important;
