The Role:
A truly global company, our client is one of the world’s largest chemical companies.
This is an exciting time to join us at our Grangemouth site, Client largest manufacturing asset which includes Scotland’s only crude oil refinery.

Having committed to significant investment over the next few years, we now require a Welding Engineer with relevant experience in Integrity Services to play a key role in the delivery and support of this growth in our business.

The Welding Engineer will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Welding Standards and Processes/Procedures within the Integrity Services function in supporting Asset, TAR and Projects businesses in delivering legal compliance and achieving Client business goals.

Principle Accountabilities of the role:

• Acting as the Welding Fabrication Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Integrity Specialists team, develop and deliver a welding engineering strategy to comply with the law and achieve Grangemouth business goals for HSE, multi discipline process safety, containment and reliability.
• Develop, implement and sustain Welding Fabrication Standards to reflect changes in the law and which achieve business goals for asset integrity and delivers new, modified or repaired equipment to the required engineering standards.
• Develop and deliver welding engineering input to Procurement, Projects and TARs to ensure that new, modified and repaired equipment meets Client and legal standards.
• Participate in the technical evaluations and compliance audits of welding and fabrication vendors and service providers to provide assurance of competence and conformance to company, national standards and UK legislative requirements.
• Review / approval of Welding Procedures, Heat treatment Procedures, Pressure Test Procedures, etc.
• Prepare welding documentation for specialised welding activities
• Provide problem solving capability to emerging technical issues on welding & fabrication.
• Provide advice to assurance welding inspectors on any welding inspection queries or issues arising.
• Develop and sustain links within Ineos Group and with appropriate national industry organisations on Welding technical issues.

Candidates must also have experience and understanding of the following:

Applicants must hold the recognised International/European Welding Engineer certification.
• Chartered Engineer status from a recognised Institute preferred.
• University Degree or equivalent in Metallurgy or a Materials Science related discipline preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years in a Welding Engineering role within the oil and gas industry on legacy plant preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience of refining & petrochemicals manufacturing operations, maintenance, design, fabrication, inspection and commissioning.
• Thorough and detailed knowledge of both ASME and EN ISO welding and fabrication Codes and Standards.
• Knowledge in Quality Management and Quality Control systems and processes and application of BS EN ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO 17020.
