The Company:
Our client is a leading oil & gas operator.

The Role:
MISSIONS:
• Supervise and control Contractor’s welding qualifications, from documents preparation to the performance of welding qualifications at sub-contractor’s Yard
• Supervise and control the risers, spools and sea lines offshore welding work performed by Contractor through constant monitoring of Contractor’s work and through regular inspections
• Ensure that welding work is carried out in accordance with Company and Project specifications and standards.
• Report any anomaly or wrong practice or defaults during welding work and to coordinate as necessary with Company Headquarters welding Specialists without any delay, should any support be deemed necessary.
• Supervise the NDT Supervisor on-board the installation barge.

ACTIVITIES:
HSE
• To achieve and to make achieve to the personnel, contractors / subcontractors the HSE rules of the Project and of the Company.
• To achieve the goals and annual aims of the Project and to take part to their definition.
• To realize HSE audits and visits to construction sites.
• To motivate, to qualify and to stimulate the personnel into a permanent way, with an exemplary attitude and a strong presence to achieve the fulfilment of the HSE aims of the Project.
• To assure during all the phases of the project, the implementation of HSE's procedure fixed by the Project. To assure during the stage of construction of the works, the application of best work practices.
• As necessary, to propose corrective actions and / or sanctions adapted in case of breaches or failures.

Main Activities
Welding Procedures and Welder Qualification
• To ensure that:
 welding procedure specifications proposed by the contractor are acceptable and cover the complete welding scope.
 welding procedure qualifications on site are performed in accordance with specifications and codes
 welders are properly qualified
 all welders have valid qualification for the work they are undertaking
 welding quality is maintained to acceptable standards
 repair rates are maintained at acceptable levels
 NDT and production tests are performed in accordance with specifications and codes in terms of quality and frequency.
Control of Welding Work Performed by the Contractor
• To ensure that that:
 fit-ups are acceptable
 pre-heat and post-heat are properly applied
 proper welding procedures are observed and proper welding consumables are used.
• In addition to check and approve the welding machinery and accessories

Weld Acceptance
• To ensure that weld acceptance by the contractor is performed in accordance with specification and codes.
• To vet all requests for relaxations/deviations made by the contractor.

Welding Records
• To ensure that accurate welding records are maintained by the contractor at all times.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
B.Sc. in metallurgy or mechanical engineering

Confirmed welding expertise, with at least 10 years’ experience in similar large international projects.

Welding, NDT and piping experience in construction, installation and commissioning; knowledge of American, UK and EN standards; good experience of NDT procedures.
Background with TOTAL. General Specifications
Perfect knowledge of welding test practices.
Fluency in English. Spanish is a substantial advantage although not required
