The Company:
A Major Oil & Gas Operator

The Role:

Under the responsibility of the SPS Site Representative, and SPS QA Lead, the Welding Engineer shall have the
following missions:
 Welding / Materials lead engineer and NDE coordinator responsible for ensuring the suitability, applicability and
compliance of processes, procedures and testing regimes associated with manufacturing/fabrication
weldments ( (including any Special Processes such as cold bending)
 Review and Approval of WPS/WPQR and coordinate Review and Approval Non-Destructive Examination
(NDE) techniques, Operatives and Technicians
 Review and appraisal of materials, consumables, facilities and environments applicable to welding operations
(including HSE assessment)
 Be generally conversant with Welding Processes, Materials (especially DUPLEX and all CRA) and NDE
techniques associated with Subsea Production System type Vendors, equipment, processes and facilities

1. Review and approval of welding processes and procedures (WPS / WPQR), including welding
2. Witness of welding operations, welding operator qualification and equipment, including acceptance
3. Review and approval of NDE techniques and NDE Operatives and acceptance criteria (including vetting
of NDE results and documentation).
4. Assessment and evaluation of welding environment and facilities, including arrangements for personnel
protection and HSE.
5. Examination and assessment of materials and consumables.
6. Attendance at Independent, Third Party “Test-House” to witness mechanical testing (e.g. CTOD, Charpy
V, Proof and Tensile Testing).
7. Review and approval of any “Special Processes” (Cold Bending, Pickling, Passivating etc.)
8. Follow up welding progress and report to site representative
9. Follow up NCR / CAR processes as required
10. Coordinate QC inspection activity / NDT inspector

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualification: Education to HNC level or above in an Engineering discipline or equivalent

Professional Experience (number of years): Minimum 10 years experience in a Welding/Materials supervisory role in the Oil and
Gas Industry, of which 5 years shall have covered all aspects of welding, materials, engineering, fabrication and construction

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Vocational qualifications: Welding Institute (or equivalent), ASNT or PCN qualification
