The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

The Role:
Main purpose of job
• To provide a high quality Inspection service to the Project Managers

Position in organisation and key relationships
• Reports to the Engineering Division Project Quality & Compliance Manager
• Day to day contact the Inspection Co-ordinator
• Day to day contact with and project management other staff
• Regular contact with Suppliers and Clients

Scope of job
• Responsible to the Engineering Division Project Quality & Compliance Manager
• Review of quality documentation such as quality plans and LTQR’s
• Inspection of equipment at suppliers in accordance with Company procedures on behalf of the Chief Inspector
• Carry out Supplier Evaluations
• Approval of Contractors quality related documentation.
• Management of Contractors to quality and programme timescales
• Advice to design staff on manufacturing techniques
• Inspection of materials
• Examination of joint preparations and completed welds
• Monitoring of Supplier welding processes

Dimensions and limits of authority
• Day to day management of procurement contracts with a value up to £1.0M.
• Responsible for the acceptance of manufactured components on behalf of the Project Quality & Compliance Manager
• Responsible for the direct liaison with project managers, etc., and organisation of workload

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A recognised welding Inspector qualification such as CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 or PCN Level 2 with relevant experience.
• BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 2 or equivalent (Preferred, but not essential)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• More than 5 years’ experience within an engineering environment, with good practical experience such as an apprenticeship
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance and inspection requirements as required by the nuclear or other high technology industry.
