The Company:
Our client is a global Oil & Gas operating company in need of a Welding Specialist for a role in Houston, TX.

The Role:
Our client has an opening for an experienced welding engineer in the oil and gas industry. The work opportunity will cover a wide range of technical areas, including pipelines, subsea equipment and flowlines, tanks, topsides equipment, in both sweet and sour environments, as well as structural applications. The position requires experience and knowledge in manual, mechanized, and automated welding processes, and an understanding of inspection techniques, as well as a technical understanding of all relevant industrycodes and practices, including AWS, API, ASME, NACE, DNV, and ISO.

Primary Job Functions:
• Responsible for providing technical support and solutions to Project-related technical issues to project teams and EPC contractors.
• Support new and existing upstream oil and gas projects with development of specifications, qualification, testing, inspection, and failure analysis of welding and fabrication related technical issues.
• Review and understand Company technical requirements and steward Projects toward technical excellence.
• Provide technical support to development and maintenance of Company global practices and mentor technical development of junior employees.
• Develop familiarity with company standard business practices, including the capital project management system, and standards for business conduct.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in oil and gas upstream environment.
• At least a Bachelor or Science degree in a relevant, technical discipline.
• Expertise with relevant industry codes and practices including AWS, API, ASME, NACE, DNV, and ISO.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate technical concerns to both Functional and Project management, as well as relate technical experience and knowledge to junior employees.
• Ability to manage self, others, and technical deliverables for large capital projects.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to supplier and field locations and work with diverse cultures/people.
• Experience providing technical support working for or with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractor(s).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Project experience on large construction projects for chemical, petrochemical, refining or upstream oil and gas industries.
• Direct experience with materials and fabrication specifications for demanding environments including corrosive and sour service.
• Familiarity with corrosion, materials processing, inspection, nondestructive testing, mechanical and corrosion testing, quality control as well as failure analysis of carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloys.
• Self-motivated and focused on achieving business results through a multi-disciplined team.
• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.
