The Role:
Fircroft are seeking a QA/QC Structural/Welding/NDE inspector for a long term contract position within Italy
Type of contract: residential (Mon to Fri)
Day Rate: negotiable
Accommodation: Allowance given
Location: Fabrication Yard in Italy
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Monitor all aspects of Quality Control during the fabrication, to ensure adherence to the company technical requirements and applicable codes including SID (Safety in Design)
Attend and witness testing including but not limited to material receipt, welding, NDE, dimensional control, final inspection etc.
Ensures compliance with governing standards, approved drawings and approved Inspection and Test Plan, ensure non-conformances are identified, tracked and closed out.
The QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that the safe execution of the fabrication conforms to the project plans and objectives.
The QC Inspector must ensure that the fabrication within his/her control is safe, cost-effective, constructible and timely.
The QC Inspector must be able to develop a working knowledge of the project specifications, as well as the referenced industry standards, to apply in the fabrication shops
The QC Inspector shall follow up on any outstanding or punch list items or concerns as related to their discipline and area assigned and provide timely responses to requests from project team members.
Coordinate with QC/QA personnel and ensure that every aspects of inspection are completed prior to commencement of the next stage of fabrication/ erection.
Monitor the packing, transport and shipment/freight works of the completed steel works from fabrication shop to site.
Well versed in QA/QC and HSE requirements, ISO standards, Release Certificates
Timely submission of Inspection Reports and report to Management of any problem resulting from the inspection and to propose proper corrective action.
Support Contractor in the development of project specific QA/QC procedure by providing guidance for compliance with the project technical requirements
Coordinate visits of Company’s third party Contractor to complete dimensional survey checks on the structures fabrication
Provide technical support and site supervision during execution of site specific activities, including but not limited to: welding repairs, structures critical lifts and assembly, structure repairs, straightening, among others
Support the project safety culture, Injury and Incident Free (IIF), Based Behaviour Safety programs. Become visible leadership with strong commitment to safety performance
Travel to offsite location for inspection support on fabrication of tertiary steel structures
Any other duties as it could be assigned by the QA/QC Manager
Key Interfaces (other members of project team, customers, subcontractors, etc):
Fabrication OE/HES Team
Fabrication Delivery Team
Fabrication QA/QC Team
Project Administration, IT, Training and Travel management
Contractors (accommodation, ground transportation, and overall destination services providers)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
REQUIRED (Example: BS in Civil/Structural Engineering required; Proficient in ETAP or SKM software required)
Degree / Diploma (completed post-secondary or higher education) - this can be substituted by relevant experience
Qualified Welding Inspector
NDE on structure welding and
Fully conversant with applicable industry standards and specifications; and able to perform the work with minimum supervision
Able to read, interpret, write and communicate in English
A minimum of 10+ years of QC, structural welding experience
A minimum of 5+ years of Fabrication Yards
Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
Skills demonstrating the capability to run a large project
High critical thinking/reasoning ability
Effective communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
