The Role:
Mission based in Lobito, Rotational (4x4).

Ensure Site is working with safe practice. Promote and challenge HSE initiatives during construction phase to keep people mobilized and safety minded. Keep people aware of Project safety objectives
Manage/Perform all Company quality inspections related to welding activities.
Monitor welding consumables management by Contractor including consumable test report (MTRs).
Witness welding procedures qualification, production tests and welder ability qualifications.
Ensure that the construction yard is provided with suitable information and resources in line with their requirements (both technical and schedule). Provide strong input in the resources management (equipment, consumables, manpower).
Troubleshoot technical problems that may affect the construction and liaise with the welding engineer and engineering team for the resolution.
Identify the critical activities and bottleneck for the progress of the fabrication related to welding. Anticipate; propose solutions to improve welder’s productivity.
Follow up the welding activities and insure proper records (welding/NDE/inspection records follow-up).
Identification and follow-up of any Non Conformance (NCRs).
Draft and propose Corrective Action Requests (CAR).
Assist the Fabrication Leaders for Punch-lists follow-up and clearance
Issue weekly reports highlighting main events, look ahead and area of concerns and additional reports as required.
Review of Contractor/Sub-Contractor final dossier
Issue a close-out report at the end of the project in Lobito.

The Welding Inspector shall liaise with the Third Party (Certifying Authority) in order to get review and approval of the applicable documentation and records.
HSE: Ensure all HSE issues are properly addressed and monitored by the construction team within his discipline and report to his management in accordance.

Expertise in : HSE - Construction - Quality - Engineering - Project scheduling - Installation/Hook-up/commissioning.
Knowledge of : Contract preparation and negotiations - Project management - Budget/cost control - Communication with Authorities/Partners.
Good communications skills with both colleagues and contractors.

Location & scheme: An onshore rotational position (4wx4w) in Lobito (Angola) during the construction phase, possibly followed by a rotational position offshore during installation phase.
Others Requirements: Be skilled in using computer programs for word processing, database management, spreadsheets and e-mail communications.
Possess the ability to analyse inspection data trends and make recommendation for inspection level and frequency changes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualification : HND/HNC graduate or Degree qualified – Discipline: Welding, Offshore structural and piping specialist ; Welding inspector qualification required.
Experience: 10 years experience with Project background within Oil & Gas industry. Construction experience is required on structural, piping, pipeline installations.
Experience on construction yard in construction contractor team is required. Experience on West African yards is a plus.
Minimum 5 years experience in all aspects of Equipment Qualifications and practical knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as but not limited to ISO, API, ASTM and ASME.
