We are currently seeking a Well Abandonment Engineer (sub surface) based at our offices. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team. This position is responsible for the design, programme development, procedural development, equipment co-ordination and execution and of Rigless Well abandonment activities. Direct reports are the Operations crews & subcontractors. The primary aspect of the role is to lead and execute subsurface aspects of well decommissioning, in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:
• Plan and execute well abandonment preparatory work including translation of abandonment design into an approved programme of execution along with detailed engineering procedures.
• Develop subsurface interface practices and procedures to facilitate efficient & cost effective execution programmes.
• Manage design engineering contractors where required & provide operational interface to platforms and facilities as necessary
• Identify, procure and deploy subsurface equipment and materials required during decommissioning projects. Close liaison surface well abandonment engineers
• Oversee well abandonment decommissioning support contractors performance, scope, quality of service and value for money.
• Contribute to interim and close-out reports & carry out lessons learned exercises for all projects completed and apply lessons continuously to develop PUK’s well abandonment expertise.
• Direct offshore supervision of subsurface aspects of well abandonment and preparation works

Safety Critical Tasks:
• Well control direct supervision during execution phases
• Compliance - Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice for all aspects of trade discipline. Responsible for discipline-specific compliance as defined by safety critical element performance standards.
• Risk Management – Understand operational risk to ensure that the company are not taking inappropriate risks in executing their work. This requires a good knowledge of HSE acceptable standards, risk management tools

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• The minimum requirement for this position is a Degree (BSc or BEng) in Mechanical Engineering along 5-10 years suitable applied subsurface supervisory experience in wells. Previous experience of well abandonment operations is essential.
