The Company:
Our global leading client is seeking highly skilled, experienced & capable contract international employees to work on a large multinational complex oil & gas project.

The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Well Systems Engineer who will interface with vendor services in support of subsea and surface wellhead and riser systems. The engineer provides onshore and offshore engineering and technical support of these systems; and is responsible for the generation and implementation of onshore and offshore work instructions, while ensuring a high level of detail and quality assurance is integrated in these products and services.

Engineering & Operations delivery
Managing direct interface with vendor company and ensuring all applicable requests are dealt with and closed out in a timely manner.
Ensuring design and technical reviews are undertaken in accordance with Client expectations and in a timely manner.
Reviewing vendor company’s technical / material specifications and any technical issues arising from the design process and where required engage with Client subject matter experts for input prior to acceptance or modification.
Developing with vendor company the agreed required design and technical review schedule and programmes.
Participating in and facilitating Client’s input through Client’s subject matter experts and or external independent competent expertise, into the above design and technical reviews.
Identify critical components within the wellhead and riser system and recommend any specific controls and or intervention requirements to Clients project manager.
Working with Wells teams and vendor company to agree specifications prior to finalizing designs for new-design or modified-design equipment and well systems.
Managing the vendor company and Clients outstanding issues register to ensure items are addressed and resolved.

Assurance, Verification and Lessons
Develop with vendor company specific test / validation plans that demonstrate the required assurance/verification that the functional specification/SoR and vendor company design criteria will be met (i.e. Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs); Stack-Up Tests; System Integration Tests (SITs); etc.)
Ensuring actions arising from technical / design related reviews or other similarly related activities are satisfactorily completed and closed out.
Monitoring vendor company’s performance ensuring they comply with their own document control, quality, safety management and risk management systems.
Developing lessons learned / best practices for improving existing management system and controls.

Schedule, Delivery and Reporting
Monitoring vendor company’s overall delivery program and advising Wells Teams of any issues that may or are directly impacting on design integrity or delivery schedule (critical path).
Identifying all reasonable opportunities for schedule improvement without compromising design integrity.
Providing weekly/bi-weekly/monthly reports (as agreed).
Develop a project plan with vendor company, highlighting milestones that incorporate and/or require Clients input and/or acceptance (i.e. design reviews, TRAPS, risk assessments).
Develop a checklist of Client technical practices (i.e. GPs and STPs) to be incorporated into the project development to ensure integrity management principles are being met.
Develop and maintain Technical File Notes (TFNs) that document decisions being made along with the rationale behind the decisions.
Generate a final project report documenting decisions made, design reviews, risk reviews, Clients technical practices and other integrity management practices.

Support and Guidance to Wells Teams
Providing technical support to engineering and operational wells teams where appropriate and within the bounds of the post holders competency.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor or equivalent degree in engineering.
5 years of project engineering experience as a baseline should generally provide the level of expertise required.
Confirmable previous work experience in wellhead and riser systems project engineering roles either in an international oil company, a national oil company or a service company.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Valid well control (subsea and surface) supervisory level certified (i.e. IWCF, Wellcap or equivalent)
Demonstrable capabilities of developing, training and coaching less experienced drilling engineers
Ability to create engineering studies in support of future well activities
