Our Client is a Global Operator in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The Role:
Role Synopsis:
The Wellbore Survey Specialist reports to the Drilling Engineering Manager. The role will interface and work closely with the subsurface and data management teams.

Key Accountabilities
Key survey management roles and responsibilities include:
• Ensure all project and vendor personnel comply with Minimum Process and Standard for directional drilling.
• Ensure contractor compliance with the project's Minimum Process and Standard for Directional Drilling through audits and reviews
• Maintain and update the project's Minimum Process and Standard for Directional Drilling
• Ensure governance and accountabilities for well survey activity are clearly defined and in place
• Develop and maintain the the project's Directional Data Management Plan
• Provide input and steer on the wider Wells Data Management Strategy
• Develop and implement the project's Well Survey database
• Identify gaps in the database and develop a plan to address
• Review all anti-collision calculations, perform risk assessments where required.
• Ensure application of international standards (API, ISO) and best practice as appropriate
• Ensure gyro and other directional surveys conducted on existing wellstock are incorporated into the database
• Ensure process and data integration with Subsurface and Data Management Teams
• Ensure all reporting, data management and documentation requirements are delivered to appropriate stakeholders in the UK and Iraq
• Act as the client's point of contact for all well survey issues

Key contract tendering roles and responsibilities include:
• Develop technical contractual documents, i.e. technical specifications, scopes of work, personnel competencies, etc., for surveying activities
• Participate in surveying tender technical evaluations

Key personnel development roles and responsibilities include:
• Train, coach and mentor the project's staff in well survey techniques
• Conduct survey short course survey training for the trainees in close cooperation with the project's L&OD Manager

Travel Required
28/28 Rotational position in Basra, Iraq. Additionally, there will be requirements to travel to the client's London office approximately once a year and other partner/supplier meetings in China, Dubai, Istanbul, and Amman on a regular basis.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Detailed knowledge & experience of well survey practice & operations
• Knowledge of industry directional packages, such as Compass
• A proven ability to coach, train and mentor staff.
• Strong team player and ability in a similar leadership role.
• Experience of managing third party contractual relationships.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
• Educated to at least first degree level in an engineering or related discipline.
• Knowledge of well service contracts.
• IWCF / IADC / AEUB Well Control certified preferred
• Experience working in a remote location in a multicultural environment is preferred.
• Flexible approach to work
• Experience with using survey databases: EDM/Openworks/OpenWells
• Strong background in Wells Data Management and establishing optimised best practices
• Candidate must pass rotator medical examination,
• Candidate must pass HET (Hostile Environment Training)
