The Company:
Our client is a leading UK based operator with oil and gas project in multiple locations across Africa. Due to continued growth and new ventures we are now looking to recruit a Wells Engineering Manager for a permanent role to be based in London responsible for projects in Kenya & Ethiopia

The Role:
The successful candidate will be tasked with the following key activities:

• Responsible for engineering & planning support to the exploration and appraisal campaigns
• Interfaces with the business unit management and in-country wells delivery team
• Provide engineering and planning support to the exploration and appraisal campaign
• Provision of technical support to the Kenya & Ethiopia well engineering operations team during well operations as required
• Introduce new technologies and methodology to improve efficiency and reduce
• Input to well planning and execution schedules in liaison with the exploration and development team
• Generate design documents for the well engineering scope and development concepts
• Assure that well engineering designs and programmes meet company and agreed industry standards, in particular with respect to well integrity and environmental policies
• Assurance of the risk management process throughout the well design and planning activities in collaboration with the Wells Delivery, G&G and subsurface teams
• Rigorous use of designated project planning tools, to drive and record the well planning process in accordance with company well operations policy and well planning procedures
• Preparation of budgets and cost estimates for development activities and tracking of spend against design phase budgets
• Work with the Supply Chain team to establish optimum contracting strategies for delivery of well construction and maintenance scope
• Provide engineering peer support to the design and planning process, and also in daily drilling matters where appropriate
• Provide progress reports as required to business and functional management teams

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
We are therefore keen to receive applications from candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Engineering degree or equivalent preferred
• Significant oil and gas industry experience to include well engineering design, production, geology, and reservoir engineering
• Experience on large scale field development projects and working in multi-discipline teams
• Advanced knowledge of industry normal practices associated with drilling, testing, work-over, wire-line and completion operations
• Understanding of well control techniques and advanced casing design
• The engineering criteria associated with the well construction and operations planning, design and well control issues, hole stability and mud, deviated drilling, testing and production
• Recognition of importance of EH&S and embedding good practices
• Familiar with API & other recognized industry standards & recommended practices
• Understanding of Geological and Petroleum Engineering priorities and well assoc
