The Company:
A major, international oil & gas company

The Role:
Deliver HSE commitments and demonstrate an exemplary attitude to HSE;

Collating and communicating the subsurface inputs to the drilling schedule. Gathering technical input from the subsurface team and negotiating the schedule and any necessary changes with the wells, construction and other relevant teams.

SPA for leading well planning activity for Algerian projects:

Selection / finalization of reservoir target achieving consensus within the subsurface team;

Selection of surface location, wellbore trajectory and well design in conjunction with the wells and construction teams plus petroleum engineers;

Organizing well planning meetings and technical work leading up approval of documentation according to JV well planning procedures; Single Point Accountability to deliver Statement of Requirement (SOR) documents for individual wells;

Effective communication with the wells and other relevant teams during well planning and execution; Ensure clear handover of technical work to be continued by back to back technical team;

Lead the geosteering operations to ensure safe efficient delivery of the well objectives;

Assist operations team on elements of well execution: offset well correlation, seismic correlation, TD determination and sidetrack options, making interventions as necessary;

Technical authority for subsurface aspects of drilling risk from shallow section to total depth; This is embodied by leading of the No Drilling Surprises Processes to assess, review and sign off on the subsurface risks prior to finalizing surface locations, well trajectories and execution of the wells; full engagement of the operations geologists and geophysicists is required as a minimum to deliver this work;

Work with geotechnical, pore pressure and geomechanical specialists;

Work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment;

Interface with other subsurface and wells staff within the JV and North Africa RPU to ensure consistent and efficient work;

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
University degree in Geology or Geophysics (BSc or higher)
Minimum of 10 years varied geosciences experience including well planning and execution, geological interpretation and geophysical experience; Specific well planning experience and/or operations geology experience is required;
Demonstrated skilful application of trajectory design (2D and 3D long step out geosteered wells).
Work well under pressure, the JV delivers a significant number of wells each year with limited resources. At times short term changes are imposed on the team in both planning and execution and these need to be dealt with effectively while not disrupting the normal planning activity required.
The subsurface team uses a suite of tools for well planning including Seisworks, PowerView, Geoprobe, DecisionSpace, EV;
A working knowledge of, petrophysics, pore pressure prediction, and hazard assessment is needed;
