The Company:
Is a major oil and gas operator.

The Role:
Our client has several major well projects in the US Gulf of Mexico (deepwater) that consist of deep, high pressure wells that push the limits of current well construction technology. The Wells Teams tasked to deliver these projects consist of Drilling Engineers, Completion & Well Intervention Engineers, Technologists, Logistics, Technical Specialists, QA/QC and multiple vendors. The teams work in close collaboration with Subsurface, Facilities and Subsea Teams dedicated to these projects.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will support the Well Delivery Team Lead with project management and project services related tasks. The project management framework within the Wells discipline is defined by the Global Well Delivery Process which needs to interface seamlessly with the Projects Opportunity & Project Management Framework. The Wells Project Services Consultant (PSC) support will be critical to helping the Well Delivery Team Lead to make the best business decisions through professional tracking and oversight of resources, budgets, progress, scheduling, documentation, business processes and technology development.

Specific day-to-day tasks include cost estimating, document control, management of change, Joint Venture communications, data management, risk management, contract cost management, action tracking, compliance tracking, workshop facilitation, etc. The PSC will be required to extend the support to more than one major project.

Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to have an experienced professional to assist the Well Delivery Team Lead and the Wells Teams with project management and project services related tasks for the above mentioned major Wells projects.

Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm Location: TX - Houston

Dimensions:
The projects are multi-well multi-year field development projects with a total well CAPEX in the billions of dollars. New technology development commences in 2012, appraisal wells are currently being drilled and development drilling is tentatively estimated to start in 2014. The candidate will be an integral part of the Wells Team and will be co-located with the Wells Team in Houston.

Key Challenges:
• HSE and Process Safety are the most critical aspects of planning and execution of these major projects. Ensure that HSE and Process Safety are considered in all activity plans.
• Work for multiple projects and develop standardization between those projects.
• Implement a wide range of existing systems, processes and standards and developing new best practices where required. Ensure compliance with the governing processes and standards.
• Develop effective interfaces between the Wells Team and the Project Services Group within the projects.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• B.Sc. degree from accredited university
• 10+ years work experience
• Strong IT (incl. MS Project/Primavera P6) and technical writing skills
• Prior experience with Wells activities or offshore projects will be an advantage
