The Company:
is an international oil & gas exploration company with an extensive portfolio of interests spread across Africa and Asia.

The Role:
Process Support:
* Contributor to the development, management and updating of the Drilling Management System (DMS).
* Ensure the DMS is followed during well planning, design, engineering, execution and closeout activities.
* Ensure compliance with Company and Drilling policies, standards and approved procedures.

General Duties:
* All work shall be performed in accordance with the DMS.
* Review well design concepts based on information provided by the Subsurface team.
* Verify delivery of well/project specific Long Lead requirements.
* Contribute towards logistical coordination & quality assurance of services, materials, equipment and personnel.
* Assist with the management of Company's well database.
 collate and assist with maintaining the technical and historical databases
* Integrate with fellow operational team members.
* Perform special studies/duties if/as required including participation at service quality meetings.
* Ensure Vendor service deficiencies are correctly and timely captured via the Company deficiency reporting (DR) process so as to ensure timely action/close out.

HSE Support:
* Support the preparation of HSE documents if/where required.
* Contribute and participate in the hazard identification process.
* Contribute and participate in well/project specific risk assessments and pre-job planning meetings.
* Assist with the evaluation of rig and 3rd party services for hazards and well integrity.


Well/Project Specific Duties:
* Provide engineering support as part of the drilling team which includes optimising well planning, design, engineering, costing and assisting with operation execution, as well as the services associated with these activities.
* Ensure subsurface well/project life cycle functional and operational requirements, including material & equipment selection comply.
* Assist the Quality Engineer with quality assurance and Vendor delivery as per their Quality Plan.
* Ensure compliance of Vendor supplied materials, equipment and services which includes review of design, pre-assembly verification, pre-installation testing and equipment documentation.
* Review all applicable operating, installing & testing procedures, including interface documents.
* Assist with drilling related engineering, mobilisation, installation and commissioning activities.
* Contribute and participate in DWOP/CWOP/TWOP's as part of well/project commencement.
* Review and implement Phase 1 and Phase 2 deliverables as defined in the DMS.
* Support the worksite team (i.e. assist, supervise, track and monitor) in the execution of Phase 3 well execution and subsequent Phase 4 well/project closeout.
* Ensure the Well Barrier Schematic is current and valid for the current operation being performed.
* Assist with preparation of Management of Change (MOC) documents and conducting a risk assessment for those changes with relevant parties.
* Contribute to the engineering focussed After Action Review (AAR) report and apply lessons learnt.
* Contribute to the compilation of Well Completion Report (WCR).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Degree qualification in Engineering (mandatory).
* Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
* Adobe packages.
* Knowledge of appropriate and relevant engineering tools (e.g. Landmark Suite (or similar) - Stresscheck, Compass, etc), and software packages.
* Current Well Control certification (IWCF) - Subsea/Surface Supervisor.
* Current BOSIET/HUET certification.
* Good written and oral command of the English Language

  • 5+ years of relevant oilfield drilling experience which includes:
  • minimum of 4 years
      • as a drilling engineer, involved with well planning, design, engineering, costing and assisting with operation execution with an internationally recognised major E&P company.
      • mandatory
      • involvement in offshore platform and/or jack up development drilling activities with surface stack type wells.
      • some prior operational experience (2 to 5 years) including SIMOPS, as an operations engineer or drilling supervisor is beneficial.
      • previously attended formal/structured career development training is highly advantageou
      • ground level involvement with exploration, and appraisal type projects is advantageous
      • familiarity with ESP, sand completion designs and clean-up activities is advantageous.
      • Committed Team player.
  • Strong aptitude for mathematics and problem solving.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Organised and structured worker, able to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to be flexible in work location, prepared for travel.
