The Company:
Our client is a global Operator whose activities include exploring for new oil and natural gas resources, developing access to such resources, and producing, transporting, storing and processing oil and natural gas.

The Role:
A Wellsite Geologist is required to work within the operations geology team. The role will require having a broad range of geoscience skills including: lithological and hydrocarbon show descriptions, log interpretation, pore pressure analysis and data quality control. The Wellsite Geologist also needs advanced knowledge of drilling processes. The role is primarily an offshore position; and the selected candidate should expect to spend most of their time at the Wellsite.

This role has the possibility to offer significantly more than 180 days work per year for the ambitious candidate willing to work an ad-hoc schedule.

The Wellsite Geologist will report to the Operations Geology Team Leader.

Key responsibilities:

1. Work in a multi-disciplined offshore team contributing to the safe delivery of new wells.
2. Monitor wells while drilling to ensure accurate well placement and that all relevant data is collected.
3. Liaise with the offshore drilling and onshore operations teams to ensure that any sub surface issues that affect drilling plans and drilling issues which affect subsurface plans, are fully communicated between the on and offshore teams.
4. Liaise with and manage geology related contractors at the wellsite.
5. Understand pore-pressure and fracture gradients
6. Have strong LWD and wireline interpretation skills.
7. Ensure real time data is available to all interested parties

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Geoscience degree (Masters preferred)
Minimum 5 years mud logging experience
Minimum 10 years Wellsite geology experience
HP or HT complex well experience for at least 1 year
Fluent in written and spoken english

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Well experience from 2 or more countries
Previous work experience with a major oil company
