The Role:
MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The workshop technician – datalogger specialist is responsible for all aspects of Data Logging and software management as applicable to the Bentley Quality & Reliability Vehicles, including the competence necessary to plan, equip and maintain electronic data loggers fitted to the reliability vehicles. By extension, the role also provides the competence necessary to maintain the Quality Reliability fleet on the latest Software levels to ensure the Reliability Cars remain fit for purpose


RESPONSIBILITY/TASKS AND CUSTOMERS


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Maximum of 5 relating to products, services etc.)

1. Defining, planning & procuring Data Logger Requirements
• Defining the Data Logger Requirements for each Reliability Vehicle on a Project by Project Basis in agreement with Group Quality & Bentley Engineering
• Agreeing budget and procuring Data Loggers and associated hardware

2. Vehicle preparation for Data Loggers
• Defining the requirements for the preparation of the Reliability Vehicles as regards the installation and interfacing of the Data Loggers and agreeing all required deviations during and after the Build of the Cars
• Co-ordinating all logger preparation activities during and after the build of the Reliability Cars.

3. Installation, commissioning & maintenance
• Providing all instructions to the Workshop to install and commission the loggers ready for use.
• Installation of loggers, testing and commissioning of Loggers
• Co-ordinating the maintenance and repair of the Data loggers

4. Configuration
• Configuring data loggers to ensure correct recording of Bus Data, Classification of Data and triggering

5. Data Management and reporting

• Uploading data from Vehicles to measurement data platforms
• Evaluating data and producing measurement reports


SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR ROLE
(such as sales volumes, production volume, number of bought parts etc.)
Defining and planning logging requirements for vehicles including preparation of cars

Maintaining loggers for a fleet of up to 40 Project Vehicles

Exporting and converting log files into presentation format for Analysis.

Updating Software in accordance with Version Management changes during Launch Phase and beyond for up to 20 Project Cars based worldwide

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Installation, commissioning and operation of Automotive Digital Electronic Recording devices in Vehicles including designing and procuring any necessary interface hardware.
• Software configuration
• Export and conversion of log files into Presentation Format
• Use of Vehicle Diagnostic equipment
• Planning skills
• Influencing skills
• Communication skills

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
• Vehicle data bus design and operation (CAN, Flex Ray, MOS, Lin Bus)
• Layout and operation of Automotive Vehicle Electrical Architecture
• Configuration and operation of Digital Signal recording equipment

QUALIFICATIONS
• BSc / HND in Electronic or Computer Science preferred
