On Monday 23 June Fircroft contractors Steve Dawson and Tim Wright, along with David Masters and Dr Gerald Lenjima from BG and Doreen Eddy from Schlumberger will undertake an epic trek to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Ligula hospital in Mtwara, Tanzania.

The team are seeking to raise $50,000 in an ambitious expedition which is expected to take 7 days, in memory of their colleague Emmanuel Juma who died tragically in December last year following a road traffic accident in Mtwara.

The money will help start a private Ligula Hospital Support Fund to help re-develop emergency facilities at the hospital. The money will be used to renovate the building and emergency room itself with new tiling and paint, improved lighting, provision of examination tables and treatment chairs, vital signs monitor, a defibrillator unit, antibiotics and 20 suture kits. In addition BG employees and contractors based in Mtwara, have also committed their time and expertise to the renovation project.
David Phipps, Regional Manager Sub Saharan Africa said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our support to the team for this project.  They have so far managed to achieve a significant amount towards their target and we hope to be able to help them raise much more.  We wish them the very best of luck for the expedition.”
