On Thursday 13th September 2012, the Fircroft Netherlands office held their first annual charity golf event to benefit KiKa
(Children Cancer Free). Guests from around the Netherlands joined in for a day fun and to raise money for this fabulous cause. Groups of golfers were ready to tee off at 12pm and battle it out to claim one of the various prizes available.
As the rain managed to stay away, charity golfers enjoyed the glorious weather around the 18 hole course at Sluispolder Golf Club
and throughout the day, a selection of Dutch delicacies including raw "herring with onions", shots of traditional schnapps called “Korenwijn” and refreshing smoothies were offered.
After an exciting day, all the scores were counted and the overall winner, "longest drive" and "nearest to the pin" winners were announced. Winner of the tournament was Erik Smith of KPMG, winners of the "longest drive" were Geja Bultus and Robbert-Paul Verkade and winners of the "nearest to the pin" were Leonie Hage and Huib de Regt.
Sluispolder Golf Club was an excellent host, providing welcome drinks and muffins on arrival, a pack lunch for during the day and a fabulous BBQ in the evening. The day was rounded off with the prize giving, raffle and a charity auction. Champion Ice Skater Hein Vergeer was the special guest for the day, accepting a donation of €3,775 on behalf of KiKa.
Jouke Brouwer, Country manager says “this is an excellent opportunity for Fircroft to get involved with the community, we raised a considerable amount for KiKa (Children Cancer Free) and if we go by the feedback we received from our partners and our guests, next year will be even bigger and better!"
