This month we sat down with Chris Hughes and asked him a few questions about his job role as an Account Manager in the Teesside office. 1. How long have you been with Fircroft?
5 Years. 2. What attracted you to Fircroft?
The opportunity to work for a Global Market leader. 3. Where did your Fircroft journey start?
On the Fircroft Graduate Scheme – I was lucky enough to spend time in Recruitment, Payroll, Invoicing, Credit Control, Accounts, Marketing and HSE – You don’t get many opportunities to spend time working your way through every department in such a big company! 4. What has been your biggest achievement whilst working for Fircroft?
Growing the account with K Home from 10 contractors to an average of over 30 and getting the sole supply agreement renewed for a further 3 years. 5. What does a typical day look like for you?
I’m fortunate that the majority of the Accounts I manage are within a 20 minute drive of the office. Most days will see me out meeting Clients and our contractors. The remaining time will be spent in the office improving processes and liaising with the Recruitment team to ensure we are exceeding client expectations. 6. What has been the biggest challenge for you in the last 12 months?
Obviously we’re working in tough market conditions, Teesside has been hit hard and we’ve seen some large organisations close and mass unemployment in the area. We’re maximising our opportunities within our current clients and looking to develop new business. 7. What are your areas of expertise?
EPC Design Engineering within the North East, Contractor / Client Management, Management Reporting, Building Relationships. 8. If your manager was to describe you in 3 words, what would they be?
Loyal, Knowledgeable, Reliable. 9. If your best friend was to describe you in 3 words, what would they be?
Dependable, fun, lucky. 10. Where would you like to be in 5 years time?
To have kept progressing with Fircroft. 11. Outside of work, what do you like to do?
Keeping Fit, socialising, cooking, reading. 12. Describe the best advice you have been given in your working career?
Say yes more often and good things will happen.
