Q&A with Michael Orbien

This month we welcome Michael Obrien to the Fircroft family.

We sat down with Michael and asked him a few questions as he starts life in his new role at Fircroft.

1. Tell us a little about your new role? What does it entail? Are there any particular parts of the role that you think will be particularly challenging / rewarding?
My new role entails searching for the appropriate candidates for multiple roles with lots of different clients in the automotive industry. This includes qualifying the right people for these roles, reviewing their CV’s and forwarding them on to the client with an end aim of them being interviewed and placed.

I think the challenging part will certainly be finding the very best candidate for a role, considering we are up against a number of other recruitment agencies who are also working for the same client. The rewarding part will obviously be beating other recruitment agencies by getting my candidates placed as opposed to theirs! I have been given the opportunity to visit sites for the clients we are working with which has been a very interesting experience.

2. What do you think of Fircroft?
I think Fircroft are a great company to work for and I am excited to get stuck into my role.

3. Tell us a little about your previous work experience- have you got a background in technical recruitment? Or is this a completely new role for you?
The recruitment role is a new start for me, in my previous role I was a Relationship Manager for a large finance company based in Solihull. I felt like I needed a new challenge with absolute scope for progression further down the line.

4. What do you like best about working in recruitment?
I enjoy the atmosphere and searching for the right candidates, I have learned that this process can be quite time consuming, but this makes the end result more rewarding when you do find the right person for the job.

5. Fircroft has offices across the globe. If you could go and visit any of them, which one would you choose?
There are 2 offices I would happily visit and they would be Dubai and Australia, I have always wanted to go to Dubai as it looks incredible, and Australia is also a place I would like to tick off!
